Although initially created by chefs to make it easier to play pranks on annoying customers, wasabi was immediately proclaimed delicious by those very customers, which only served to further infuriate the chefs. Take advantage of a happy accident with today’s Groupon for Tokonoma Shochu Bar and Lounge, Surry Hills:

Groupies take a 12-course tour through Tokonoma’s vision of Japanese fusion, starting with spicy edamame, fried soy beans and chilli, plus sliced kingfish and hiramasa no usuzukuri and more. Following this crispy rice cuttlefish, age dashi tofu, sake no aburi yaki and lamb mince balls will be served. Lastly a chef's selection of desserts mean sweet-toothed, hungry diners can finish on a (sugar) high, indulging in traditional tasting sweets. Diners can expand the taste of all dishes with a glass of red or white wine each.
