Am giving this salon review five stars so it doesn't get thrown to the bottom of the list - as seems to have happened to all the other one star reviews for this salon. Strangely, the Groupon reviews for this salon are not ordered properly. If you look at 'most recent' you get a whole lot of five stars reviews from over a year ago at the top of the list, but if you search by 'lowest rating', you get negative reviews which were posted as recently as a week ago in the list. Why don't the negative reviews come up in 'most recent' searches? Absolute Hair design doesn't deserve even 1 star.
DO NOT GO to LISA OR ABSOLUTE HAIR DESIGN - IT IS APPALLING! YOUR HAIR WILL BE RUINED FOREVER AND IT WILL TAKE YEARS TO GROW OUT
Lisa, the owner, is a bully. She's rude to her staff (who seem to spend the whole time sweeping and cleaning) and insults her clients and the way they look. She told the woman next to me that her hair was awful and desperately needed fixing. The woman looked wounded. I don't know how much she charged her but I imagine it was close to the standard $500.00 she charges everyone else for a terrible service
The Keratin treatment she used on me stripped my hair colour so that it turned orange when the Keratin was washed it out. I had an event on the next morning so needed a colour over it then and there - Lisa knew this - $465.00 dollars later I was given what Lisa called a 'demi' but was basically some toner through my hair for 15 minutes. When I expressed my concern about the price, Lisa stormed off. I asked if there was a cheaper option. I was told toner would cost $90.00 but it wouldn't help so much..... Really? For toner? Absolute highway robbery.
The 'demi' that Lisa put through my hair has now washed out and my hair is orange again from the Keratin. Well actually, not true - the roots are bright orange and the rest of the hair shaft is a dirty brown colour. I went in with evenly toned caramel coloured hair....
The cut Lisa gave me at the end was a complete hack. She literally got her scissors and just sliced through my hair - not using a proper cutting motion but using them like you'd use a machete. My hair looks like it's had a machete through it.
I might be able to deal with the colour of my hair if the keratin was good. It was an awful job. My hair is breaking off in chunks, strings are disintegrating. it feels worse than straw and it just hangs limply. It's not straight, it's not curly. It's just kind of fuzzy - like it's been fried - which I think it has. The hairdresser I went to today said that there's no way of fixing it. I am having to get it all cut off. I am devastated.
Oh and make sure you have a spare 7 hours for your appointment with Absolute Hair Design. Lisa fits as many people into her tiny room (she calls it a salon) as she can. She breached every possible COVID rule there was - no sign in; no distancing (we all sat about 50cm away from each other) and barely anyone had a mask as was required at the time).
Lisa also makes you play musical chairs during your visit (sitting near the exit door in a waiting room chair) so she can do her hustle and get as many other clients as possible in the chair for their terrible treatments. Every stage of the process took about 1 hour more than it should have and I had to keep asking Lisa when the treatment was going to be taken out - as did all her other clients. I sat in a chair with dripping wet hair for an hour while she saw to other patients.
Did I mention the room that Lisa uses to cut hair in is in the same building as a brothel? And it absolutely stinks of chemicals. I felt like I couldn't breathe from all the fumes in the air. it's also on a main street with a big window so everyone driving past just stares at you sitting there with keratin treatment on your head for 7 hours.
Now, for the Groupon aspect. I have always been sceptical of deals when they seem to good to be true but Lisa makes a mockery of Groupon. Despite having paid Groupon and Lisa $145 for the Keratin voucher, Lisa will then charge you $250 for colour that you absolutely need because the Keratin has stripped all the colour out and another - is this a side effect of leaving it on to long - I'll have to ask Goldwell. Oh yes, and my hair is bobbed and neither thick nor thin but I was charged almost $100 more because of my length and thickness. A perusal of other reviews on this and Google reviews suggests she charges this exact amount to everyone regardless of whether they have long, thick hair or very little hair at all.
Lisa insists you buy her products or the Keratin won't work. She also says she won't guarantee it. The products amount to over $100. I refused to do so and Lisa shouted at me and told me I couldn't expect it to work and she would not guarantee it. Is that in your fine print Lisa? No. Because it's not true. It's another part of her cheap hustle. This is misleading and deceptive conduct.
I am taking Court action against Lisa and Absolute Hair Design for the damage done to my hair and for all the detriment I've suffered as a result.
Lisa is a dishonest woman and rude to everyone around her. I sent her photos of my hair three days after my appointment showing her how dreadful it looked - the photos were date and time-stamped. Lisa admitted in her text to me that my hair looked terrible and said it must have been 'bleached' but in her next text message told me I must have gone to someone else and they bleached it - and presumably broke off her swathes of my hair - right after I saw her... I told Lisa I had washed it and taken the photos right after (they were date and time stamped). Lisa said it was because I used the wrong shampoo and conditioner. I told her I used the one she recommended. Lisa why isn't this listed as an 'extra cost' if it's an absolute essential and the Keratin won't work without it.
Lisa, obviously, aware that my hair was terrible, insisted she would not refund my money until I made the two hour drive back to her salon so she could 'look at it' and 'fix it'. Yes, Lisa, you've taken 7 hours out of my day on the weekend but I'm going to come back and spend several more hours with you so can deny you ruined it and ruin it some more. You've got to be kidding!
DO NOT STEP FOOT NEAR THIS SALON. Lisa will swindle you and cheat you until she's got her money. If you complain, she insults you and then cuts you off. Lisa, presumably you will be reading this. If you'd just refund my money as I requested, I would have willingly settled this matter. Now, I feel I have a duty to ensure that anyone that even contemplates coming to your salon should reconsider. I will post reviews on my website of the disastrous results.
TRUST ME - DO NOT GO TO LISA OR ABSOLUTE HAIR DESIGN - SHE IS A HUSTLER AND A BULLY
Be prepared to spend extra $$.
I Was very happy with my cut and keratin treatment. my hair is glossy and more manageable , the ladies are very knowledgeable and are very good at their jobs. Only negative is a lot of upselling which makes you feel a little uncomfortable saying no - however expected with Groupon vouchers.
The salon has a nice atmosphere and qualified staff.
The salon's owner is a pleasant woman, she studied a lot.
As for the deal, I liked it. I really wanted my hair to be curly, and it would be wonderful, I guess.
But after all those procedures my hair was curly only for one evening only. The next morning I brushed my hair and it is the same way as it was before.
Lisa explained to me that it was because my hair is hair was bleached blonde, and they don't have enough elasticity. So for me, this voucher and travelling to Epping was a waste of money. So, if they say to you that the result may vary and it may not work for your hair, take it seriously - you'll get just not curly damaged hair and will be upset. If they say that it will work - then fo for it.
