Anglesea, Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road traces a spectacular route along Victoria’s dramatic coastline, where sheer limestone cliffs are buffeted by rolling surf, and the Twelve Apostles rise like colossal statues out of the sea. The coastal gem of Anglesea is situated between Torquay and Lorne, an ideal hub to base a plethora of adventures. Soak up the natural diversity of the area with a day trip through the rugged Great Otway National Park or a stroll along the 44km Surf Coast Walk and admire the ocean and lush forest.
Swap the hiking shoes for a set of fins and take to the water at one of the nearby beaches. Anglesea’s main beach is perfect for splashing around or carving up waves, while nearby Point Roadknight Beach is ideal for a casual paddle. For a closer look at life under the sea, head to Point Addis Marine National Park to explore the rock pools teeming with unique critters. The waters are well known for supporting a range of marine life, including dolphins, seals and colourful sponges.
