The Experience
During this 4WD vehicle wildlife safari tour, participants will have a unique opportunity to delve deep into nature and explore the fauna and flora of the Daintree area. Venturing through the rainforest and cruising the majestic Daintree River, travellers will listen to the guides speaking about the local animal species, vegetation and the history of the area. To rest a bit during this adventure-packed day, guests can splash about in the crystal-clear waters of the rainforest creeks and have some local tropical fruit ice cream.
The Itinerary
Be met by a tour guide at the chosen pick-up spot between 6.50am and 7.15am (Cairns, CBD area), from 7.20am (Northern Beaches) and 8.20am (Port Douglas)
After introductions, drive north along the scenic coastal route along the Captain Cook Highway learning about the history of the area and admiring spectacular views of the coastline and the Azure waters of the Coral Sea
Stop at the Majestic Daintree River for some morning tea (tea, coffee and biscuits) before enjoying an informative guided River Cruise on the Daintree River
Relax and enjoy the stunning Daintree’s landscapes, learn of estuarine crocodiles, mangrove forests and endemic wildlife
Head to the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage sites, wet tropics, and tropical rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea
Experience the rainforest on one of the guided elevated national park boardwalks; an experienced guide will lead participants through this ancient rainforest whilst giving a thorough interpretation of flora and fauna; enjoy photo opportunities and ask questions about this particular habitat on the way
Make the way towards Daintree, Cape Tribulation and stop for lunch at a restaurant, which is also an animal refuge centre
Get up close to wallabies, eclectus parrots, pythons and other examples of the native wildlife
Enjoy lunch at a local café (vegetarians and other dietary requirements
upon notification before the tour day; cold drinks from the bar at
traveller’s own cost)
Go beyond the famous Daintree Tea Plantation, past spectacular mountains and through spectacular World Heritage Rainforest; pass Cape Tribulation and continue along the 4WD Bloomfield Track through to pristine Emmagen Creek
Have a refreshing rainforest stream swim in crystal clear waters; see the fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of exotic tropical fruits, along with a cup of Billy Tea, made in a traditional Australian Billy
Head to Cape Tribulation Beach, stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers’ platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the rainforest meets the reef
Stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company to enjoy some exotic tropical fruit home-made ice-cream (sample unique flavours, such as black sapote, soursop, wattle seed, jackfruit, and coconut, among others; ice-cream at traveller’s own cost)
After a short afternoon refreshment stop, cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and begin the homeward journey
Arrive back at the chosen hotel accommodation at about 5.30pm (Port Douglas), 6pm (Northern Beaches), or 6.30pm (Cairns CBD Area)
