The Hotel: Hunter Valley Resort
The Hunter Valley Resort is fashioned after the style of a country lodge and nestled within 70 acres of the Hunter Valley’s iconic wine country. Guests can wander the resort’s very own Shiraz vineyards, which have been producing tart, dark-skinned grapes for four decades. Located just two hours’ drive from Sydney, it’s an ideal setting for romantic getaways or relaxed retreats with friends.
Sojourning connoisseurs settle into the Hunter Room, a timber-ceilinged enclave replete with a full-sized bathtub and a balcony from which visitors can take in the sights, smells and sounds of their leafy surrounds. Guests head out into the onsite vineyard for a tour and wine tasting with the hotel’s cellarmaster. Groupies then head over to Binnorie Dairy to taste some of the Hunter’s locally produced cheeses. The Binnorie Dairy uses only locally sourced milk in order to allow the unique flavours and characteristics of the Hunter Valley to shine through in each variety of cheese. Folks also get to peek behind the curtain with entry to the resort’s Hunter Wine Theatre experience, in which they watch a 15-minute programme about the production of the vineyard’s wine before enjoying a wine tasting accompanied by educational tidbits.
Guests that upgrade to receive tickets to the Hunter Valley Gardens will be able to visit one of the most popular spots in the Hunter Valley region including Christmas Lights spectacular. Wander through over 60 acres of gardens nestled at the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges, treating the senses to the sights and smells of the international displays.
