Rottnest Island: Up to 2-Night Lakeside Stay + Brekkie

490+ bought

The Hotel: Karma Rottnest

Take a ferry from Fremantle Northport (Rous Head) or Fremantle BShed to the island, and settle into a standard lakeside room at Karma Rottnest, once the summer residence of the Governor of Western Australia. Relax by the pool with a cocktail, feel the grass between your toes with a game of barefoot bowls, or indulge in a relaxing spa treatment while you visit. Spend time exploring the island’s beaches, visiting the museum, playing a round of golf, or dining at the nearby restaurants, cafés and bars.

Groupies can enjoy the casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery, and friendly wildlife on the island before coming home to their private balcony and lounge after a long day of exploring. Sit back and relax inside or watch the sun set by Governor’s lake, then head over to the onsite Riva restaurant for a Mediterranean-inspired meal. Wake up bright and early for breakfast the next day and head home with fond memories of your getaway.

The Area: Rottnest Island, WA

Known among locals as ‘Rotto’, the picturesque island off the coast of Western Australia was named after the quokkas sighted by explorers. Blessed with a casual atmosphere, lovely scenery, and colourful sea life, Rottnest Island is a short ferry ride from Fremantle or Perth. Those looking for flora can find plenty to interest them along the many trails and guided tours on the island and can explore more of the area by biking along paths and trails. Beach lovers and swimmers can take their pick of 63 beaches and 20 bays, and can even play musical beaches every day should they so choose.

Fauna-lovers can get up close and personal on underwater snorkel trails at Little Salmon Bay and Parker Point, and can cross their fingers for a dolphin sighting while on the ferry. Quokka encounters are plentiful and make the island a prime destination for those who find cute mammals irresistible. The island’s rich history can be explored through tours of the Rottnest Island Museum, Lomas Cottage, Pilot Boat House, Vincent Way, Salt Store, Wadjemup Lighthouse, and the maze of tunnels beneath the WWII gun emplacement on Oliver Hill.
