The Area: Campbelltown
Founded in 1820, Campbelltown has since grown and thrives as a significant regional centre for Southwestern Sydney with a rail line, major hospital, university, and several shopping centres. It is located at the centre of the commercial and industrial areas of Ingleburn, Minto, Smeaton Grange, Prestons, and Moorebank. Travellers can work their way through the local restaurant scene in the Park Central restaurant complex, or shop til they drop in Macarthur Square.
Groupies in the area are urged to visit historic Camden and its surrounds, or take part in one of Campbelltown’s festivals, like the 10-day long Festival of Fisher’s Ghost held annually in the CBD. It is the biggest festival in Campbelltown and is one of the longest-running festivals in Australia, dating back to 1956. Other local festivals are the Ingleburn Alive! Festival and the Riverfest.
