Guided Tour of Melbourne Art World
We will guide you through Melbourne's contemporary art world from the commercial to the underground. Tours begin at the iconic Nicholas building in the CBD then continue to Fitzroy and Collingwood via tram. The rest of the tour will be on foot to visit a number of galleries while also stopping at sites of historical significance. At each gallery we will spend time looking at and talking about the work. You will be introduced to a simple method of art analysis that we will use as a group to talk about what we're looking at. There is no pressure to join the larger group discussion, your host will ensure that you gain confidence in talking about art. If you're interested in art and the cultural history of the city then this is the tour for you! Even if you've only visited a few galleries in your life you will leave the tour with the confidence of a critic. You will also receive a suite of recommendations from a local who knows the city like the back of their hand.
