Excellent stay My husband, daughter and I stayed 3 nights over the long weekend. We were in room 1. The staff are very helpful and there is no lift being a heritage hotel, however they will help with bags if you need. We went into the pub and the young man took us upstairs. Kylie was very helpful checking us in. Our room was large with 2 separate bedrooms, a luggage and hanging room and a lovely bathroom. Towels are large and thick. Only odd thing is no tissues. You can't open the windows but the air con worked very well. There's tea coffee and a kettle and a fridge. Also cold water. Both bedrooms have a TV. Yes it is a bit noisy as they unfortunately have a smokers garden and room 1 is above that, but after it closes at midnight, it goes quiet. Our remedy for that was to have our tv on loudish. They also provide earplugs. The meals are very nice and big serves. You get 10% off too which is very nice of them. There's a convenience store opposite. His magesties car park 40 meters away too. We were very happy here and have booked again although the email was wrong in price to what we negotiated with Kylie and that's my only complaint, they don't seem to reply to email so I will have to call.

No luggage storage. Communication was a bit of a thing - as there is no reception, if you arrive late, you need a couple of entry codes (to the hotel and to the box to get your keys) and they change each month. My room was big, clean and well-equipped. But... as there is no reception, there is no place to store your luggage if you want to visit the city, before you continue your trip. The café doesn't open until late morning and they don't want to take responsability for your stuff. So I ended up NOT visiting the city. A pity - especially as the price they charge is not small.

Highly Recommended The staff bent over backwards to help me out, and kept me regularly informed. They replied promptly to any messages I sent them. My flight arrival time kept getting later and later. Eventually I arrived ... 4 hours late (onya Virgin!) ... and after 01:00 a.m. They'd given me clear instructions on how to get in. Unfortunately the keys didn't work, but when I rang them, they arrived quickly to sort things out. (Thanks Kelly!) The room was comfortable and had everything you needed. My only regret was that I wasn't there long enough to enjoy it more.

Very good but beware the noise Stayed here three years ago just before the pandemic. I liked the set up, the price, the location, the free drink on arrival, the cleanliness, the wifi, and I disliked the noise of revellers on the street. Any hotel that has ear plugs next to the bed and a note asking guests to report noise disturbance clearly has a bit of an issue! Three years on, it’s pretty much the same, although I’m happy to report that noise was less of an issue this time, mostly thanks to the secondary glazing at the window. Last time, the seal was broken so it didn’t do its job. So - if you don’t mind a bit of noise, Nightcap is ideal.

Below par Booked cos looked online. On arrival quite run down. Finally got to book in at top of high staircase. Manager/staff very rude and abrupt and very unhelpful. Room ok but small. Windows sealed. Bathroom dirty and mouldy. Toilet seat broken. Bar area ok but again staff unhelpful and borderline rude. Deposit demanded on arrival a surprise
