Unfortunately, my experience with this salon was disappointing and left me feeling short-changed. To begin with, the address listed on Groupon was incorrect, which led me to the wrong location. I spent 20 minutes trying to find the salon and had to call to get the actual address, which turned out to be in a different suburb. While they did apologise and send the correct details, it created a stressful start. During the treatment, I asked to see a teeth shade chart to identify my starting shade and compare progress. I was told they didn’t use one, which made it difficult to gauge how much change had actually occurred. They mentioned not to expect a glam/celebrity white result, which I completely understood and assured them a natural improvement of up to 3 shades was fine. However, the session was cut short to 15 minutes instead of the 30 I paid for, without any prior notice or my agreement. At no point was I asked if I was happy with the results before being told to rinse. The whitening effect was minimal - family commented that my teeth looked the same, and when I checked photos, the difference was barely noticeable. It looked a bit whiter in the salon lighting, but without a shade chart, there was no objective way to determine if I had achieved my goal of 2–3 shades or only 1, leaving it entirely to staff opinion. I felt I didn’t receive the full value of what I paid for ($90). I contacted the business the next day to ask if I could return to complete the remaining 15 minutes, and they refused, stating they don’t offer “free whitening”—despite the fact that I had already paid for a 30-minute session that was not completed. I believe the salon could improve by: - Ensuring accurate location details are listed online - Providing shade charts so clients can assess visible change - Clearly communicating and agreeing on any service changes beforehand - Checking in with clients before ending a treatment early to check if its at their desired whitening shade and agree to finish early or continue to full 30 minutes The owner mentioned that using a teeth shade chart wouldn’t be fair, as everyone whitens differently. However, the Groupon advertisement features a shade chart, which wasn’t available during my treatment. When I asked about it, staff explained that it’s not commonly used - even by dentists - but the image sets a different expectation. Under ACCC guidelines, marketing materials should not be false or misleading, so I’d encourage the business to align advertising with the actual service to avoid confusion. It’s a nice-looking salon, and I’d recommend using original images of the space and services offered to give clients a more accurate idea of what to expect. There’s potential here, and I appreciate the friendly staff and clean clinic. With some clearer communication, consistent service delivery, and better tools to track results, this could be a much more positive experience for future clients. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I wouldn’t return.
