What is a chemical peel?

And they can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from.

How to Prepare for a Chemical Peel?

In the days leading up to the peel (for about 48 hours), avoid using abrasive scrubs, exfoliants, facial masks, self-tanners, bleaching or skin-lightening agents. This includes both prescription and over-the-counter topical skincare products, like Retin-A, adapalene, Tazorac or benzoyl peroxide.

How to Care for Skin After a Chemical Peel

After a chemical peel, wait at least one day to apply makeup on the treatment area. Skin may feel slightly irritated, so we recommend using ice packs to help alleviate this. Over-the-counter pain-relieving medication may also help reduce any discomfort.
