Highlights

The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney have great beaches, history and lots of vibrancy. The day starts at Bondi Beach and the best way to see this famous beach is by taking a walk along the promenade. We then move to the coastal walkway which winds around the scenic beaches of Tamarama and Bronte. Watsons Bay is next, where there is an option of doing a short walk to Hornby Lighthouse which provides spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. After Watsons Bay we head to charming Paddington to see quaint terrace houses and a submerged garden which was formerly a reservoir. At this point we will have a couple of hours available so there are a few choices to be made including a visit to Barangaroo Reserve, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge Pylon or Wendy Whiteley's Garden. A popular choice is Barangaroo combined with the Sydney Harbour Pylon. Your guide will outline the highlights of each of these places. A delicious lunch is included in the day.

Points of Interest

Stop At: Bondi Beach
Queen Elizabeth Drive, , Sydney, New South Wales
Enjoy the vibrancy of Australia's most famous beach when we stroll along the boardwalk. Bondi lads working on their physique at an outdoor gym will first be seen and in the middle of the beach is the Bondi Pavillion. The recently restored pavillion provides a wonderful open sense of space with breezy courtyards, a redesigned light filled atrium, and widespread use of locally occurring coastal plants. The many arches remain and the continued use of terracotta tiles is consistent with the Mediterranean style of the pavillion. As we head further south along the promenade it is hard not to be impressed with street and contemporary art murals located on the sea wall. At the southern end of the beach we ascend the stairs and meet at the top deck. Time now to have a look at another local icon, the Bondi Icebergs. The popular icebergs pool is a 50 metre salt water pool that was constructed in 1929 to assist with the fitness of local lifesavers.

There is also a museum with exhibits that help understand the engineering challenges faced in constructing the bridge combined with interesting artefacts from the collection of the chief engineer of the bridge, John Bradfield.
