The Experience

The full day Shark Observer tour takes Groupies from Port Lincoln marina to ‘shark bay’ at Neptune Island, approximately 70kms south of Port Lincoln, South Australia. Along the way cheeky sightings of dolphins and native seabirds are on the cards while you enjoy the naturally impressive scenery cruising through the Thorny Passage.

Adventure Bay Charters use audio sound vibrations to attract the sharks to the boat rather than berley in order to protect the natural environment. Sound vibration is omnidirectional (that is, it travels in all directions underwater) and instantaneous as well as being eco-friendly. Incidentally, Adventure Bay Charters claims that the Great White Shark’s favourite choice of music is the rock tunes from AC/DC. Lunch, morning tea, afternoon tea, Neptune Island Conservation Park fees as well as tea and coffee are all included in the tour price.

When the Great White’s arrive at the boat, Groupies can opt to get a thrill out of cage diving with the sharks from the safety of a hardened steel cage, or take in the thrilling sight from the safety of the boat above the water. The upgrade to a cage dive option includes mask, snorkel, wetsuit, gloves, hood and cage access ($100 payable onboard when sharks are sighted). Groupies who redeem their vouchers for tours Monday to Friday will receive 50% off cage access and save $50.

Adventure Bay Charters

The multi award-winning Adventure Bay Charters is a family business run by Matt Waller, a fourth generation fisherman who is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the ocean with others. Located in Port Lincoln, the seafood capital of Australia, Adventure Bay Charters offers visitors an opportunity to get up close to Southern Bluefin Tuna and to learn the intimate workings of this important aquaculture industry, as well as the opportunity to interact with the Australian Sea Lion and the Great White Sharks.
