Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary (15 Days)

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu

• Airport pick up to hotel, Overnight at Kathmandu.
• As you reach Kathmandu airport, a worker from Trekking Guide Team Adventure will wait for you with a play card to welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 02: Trek Preparation Day

• On this day there will be a short briefing session after your breakfast.
• Briefing regarding Lukla flights, Altitude sickness, and other trip information will be given by the trekking guide team.
• On the same day, you will be introduced to your guide.
• The rest of the day you can prepare for your trek. You can buy or hire trekking gears if you need to.
• Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla trek to Phakding 5hr (alt 2610m). Over Night at Tea House.

(NOTE: The flight to Lukla will get diverted to Ramechaap Airport if there is high air traffic problem in domestic flight in high tourist season (March, April, May, September, October, November, December). In this case you have to get up early at 1 am in the morning and the airlines sharing vehicle will be waiting for you. It will take you to the airport timely.)

• At 4:30 am, you can have a cup of tea and ask the hotel for your packing breakfast and be ready by 5 am at Hotel lobby.
• Our car will drop you to the airport for your Lukla flight.
• Today we will take a wonderful flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m). After 40 minutes, we will land on a runway and our caretaker will help us carry our belongings.
• Then we will walk down to the Dudh Koshi River, where we connect with the main path to Namche Bazaar.
• After moving all the way through the small area of Ghat (2550m), we will soon arrive at our tea house at Phakding.
• Overnight at tea house.

Note:

• The weather in Lukla is unpredictable and always changing. Sometimes due to bad weather, sometimes the flight may be delayed or cancelled.
• If the flight is cancelled, you will have to return back to the hotel. The transportation back to the hotel and accommodation on this night is not included. You will have to pay additional for this yourself.
• If the weather is clear the next day, you will get either the 3rd or 4th flight to Lukla.
• If still, the weather is not clear, there will be an option for helicopter flights also. The cost of a helicopter flight is not fixed. It will be quoted by the airlines on the same day. The airlines will use your flight ticket plus; you will have to pay an additional approx. 650 USD.
• The total cost for a helicopter flight is 650 USD approx. You will have to pay an additional 650 USD combining your Lukla flight ticket.
• The weather problem is rare; it only happens sometimes. But you need to know this information in case the weather goes bad.
• This does not happen all the time, this is only important information you need to know. (OR WE CAN DIVERT YOU TRIP TOWARDS ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP).

Day 04: Hiking up to Namche bazaar 5hr (3440m.). Overnight at Tea House.

• Trek through rhododendron and pine forest.
• Go across the Dudh Koshi at Benkar and see views of snow-topped peaks Thamserku (6623m), Kusum Kanguru (6369m).
• Steep trail upwards to Namche Bazaar.
• Walk on flat land, to the union point of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers.
• Finally walk to Namche Bazaar where Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Tawoche are visible.
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 05: Rest day Namche Bazaar – Hiking up to Everest view hotel

• View Mt: Everest (alt 8848.86m) & Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku (alt 6608m).
• Rest and acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar.
• Explore Namche and enjoy Khumbu mountain landscapes.
• Walk to Thami (3810m) over Bhote Khola River Valley.
• Overnight at Tea House in Namche bazaar.

Day 06: Hiking up to Tengboche 5hr (3860m). Overnight at Tea House.

• Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (approx. 4 hrs).
• Visit Tengboche Monastery at 3860m.
• Enjoy views of Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Khangtaiga, Ama Dablam, Nuptse.
• Possible wildlife encounters: musk deer, Danphe (National bird).
• Overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Hiking up to Dingboche 5hr (alt 4410m). Overnight at Tea House.

• Walk through birch, juniper, fir, and rhododendron forest at Debuche.
• Cross suspension bridge over Imja River.
• Pass Pangboche with views of Ama Dablam.
• Continue through alpine hillsides and cross Imja Khola.
• Reach Dingboche. Overnight at Tea House.

Day 08: Rest day and explore Dingboche village. Overnight at Tea House.

• Rest and acclimatize at 4300m.
• Explore Sherpa settlement and terraced fields of buckwheat, barley, potatoes.
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 09: Hiking up to Lobuche 5hr (alt 4910m). Overnight at Tea House.

• Hike towards Khumbu Glacier.
• Steep trail from Dughla to moraine crest.
• Smooth leveled path to Lobuche.
• Views of Pumori (7145m), Changtse (7550m).
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 10: Hiking up to Gorakshep 3hr (5140m) and trek to Everest Base Camp (5380m).

• Trek along Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep (5160m).
• Continue trek to Everest Base Camp.
• Spend time at Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep.
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 11: Trek to Pheriche or Pangbuche. (Option: Early in the morning Hiking up to Kalapatther (5550m) which excellent viewpoint of the Everest region from there we will see in front of Mt: Everest & Pumo- Ri).

• Trek towards Pheriche.
• Optional hike to Kalapattar for sunrise views.
• See peaks of Pumori (7145m), Khumbutse (6623m), Lingtren (6697m), Changtse (7750m).
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 12: Trek to Down Namche bazaar 5hr (2835m). Overnight at Tea House.

• Trek to Namche Bazaar via Khunde and Thame villages.
• Cross Bhote River bridge through Thamo.
• Arrive at Namche Bazaar.
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla 5hr alt (2840m). Overnight at Tea House.

• Descend and cross suspension bridge above Dudh Koshi River.
• Pass Jorsale and Manjo.
• Trek to Lukla (5 hrs).
• Overnight at Tea House.

Day 14: Early in the Morning fly to Kathmandu/ Ramechhap. Overnight at Kathmandu Hotel. (NOTE: The flight to Kathmandu will be diverted to Ramechaap Airport in case there is high traffic problem in domestic flight in high season. In this case your flight will land at Ramechhap Airport and the airlines bus which will drop you in Kathmandu.)

• Early morning flight to Kathmandu or Ramechhap.
• Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.
• Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 15: Free day in Kathmandu and departure to your country.

• Last day of trek in Nepal.
• Representative will drive you to the airport for departure.

Trip information about Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu flight

• The Everest trek includes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.
• Sometimes the weather of Lukla becomes bad, at which time the flight cannot take place. Flights may be delayed or cancelled.
• It is recommended to keep 2 to 3 extra days after the trek in case of delays.
• If you have a tight schedule, it will be hard to manage return flight.
• If flight does not happen for 2 to 3 days, trek may be diverted to Annapurna Base Camp with Kathmandu to Pokhara flight.
• Extra budget for helicopter charter may be needed: approx. 3500 USD per charter (650 USD per person). Payable by cash or credit card.
