The Hotel: Silk Pavilions
Nestled in bushland and rainforest covering 100 acres, Silk Pavilions is only 50km from the Gold Coast, yet feels like another world away. Set in the Tweed Valley region teeming with diverse flora and fauna, Groupies spend two or three nights escaping everyday life. Making the most of the natural surrounds, both accommodation options offer endless comfort and seclusion for a tranquil stay. Opt for Thai Pavilion to soak up Asian-inspired furnishings, high ceilings and terrace overlooking the Border Ranges. Similarly, the Eco Pavilion doesn’t skimp on life’s little luxuries whilst making the most of the natural setting.
To ensure guests are well fueled to either spend their days exploring or relaxing, Silk Pavilions provides a Continental breakfast hamper to satisfy rumbling tummies. There are ample dining options available for the rest of the sojourn, including hot pots, DIY pizza and BBQ packs. For a touch of luxury, tuck into three courses on the butterfly landing, complete with candles, wine and the twinkling stars above. When couples are ready to tackle the outside world, a late 12pm checkout makes the transition a little easier.
The Area: Mount Burrell and the Tweed Valley, NSW
A region rich in biodiversity and wonderful natural beauty, the Tweed Valley is home to the largest sub-tropical rainforest remnant in the world. Visitors are spoilt for choice with plenty of natural attractions to ensure a new experience everyday. Keen explorers can witness the world’s largest extinct shield volcano above water, as well as five world heritage listed national parks.
Take a quick day trip from Silk Pavilions to Border Ranges National Park where explorers can opt for a leisurely drive or more intense caldera rim walk. For a lush rainforest experience, head along the walking track from Breakfast Creek at the start of the Mt Warning National Park. Keep eyes peeled for spectacular tree species as well as the wandering pademelon wallabies, satin bower birds and scrub turkeys.

We had three wonderful nights, excellent accommodation, everything was well presented. Food wonderful, my Asian spiced fish delicious, well done John. The night skies were breathtaking, the mornings just wonderful with the birds singing...

We have just spent the weekend at Silk Pavillions. An aesthetically ideal place where the service matched the ambiance. If there is a more beautiful spot on earth, I have yet to see it. We will be back and thank our hosts for such a lovely memory.
