The Hotel: Paradise Links Resort

Boasting view of a rolling green golf course, Paradise Links Resort is a 4.5-star hideaway in scenic Port Douglas. The grounds are geared around fun, with two swimming pools, a tennis court, basketball hoop and two BBQ areas catering for a range of tastes. 

Stay in a one-bedroom apartment with a private balcony overlooking tropical landscaped gardens and the pool area, or a Links Room, also with a private balcony. While at the resort, Groupies take advantage of bike hire for a zip around the local coastline or instead use their tennis racquet hire to play a game or two.

The Area: Port Douglas, QLD

Tropical north Queensland conjures up images of lush rainforest, deserted beaches and unique wildlife, and Port Douglas has all of this and more. Close to the two World Heritage sites of the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, the coastal village is awash with pristine natural wonders. The beachy, organic lifestyle of Port Douglas is reflected in all elements, from friendly sidewalk cafes to colourful weekend markets and quirky artisan boutiques.

Take the short 500-metre walk away from the resort and step onto Four Mile Beach, where people can stroll, swim or surf to their heart’s content. Those eager for some natural green settings head up the coast to the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest. As the oldest of its kind in the world, the forest is home to unique wildlife and sprawling canopies. While out north thrill seekers can hop aboard a 4WD for an energetic ride round Cape Tribulation.

The Great Barrier Reef is also a sight not to be missed, and can be experienced in myriad ways. Take an island day trip, scenic flight or dive tour for a new appreciation for this natural wonder. Back in Port Douglas, folks continue their vacation with a wander around the Esplanade and Macrossan Street, stopping by cafes, boutiques, restaurants and even bars as the nigh creeps in. On the weekend shoppers head to Anzac Park for the Sunday markets, where they can pick up fresh produce and colourful flowers.

We stayed for 7 nights in a one bedroom apartment. The apartment was clean, comfortable and relatively roomy. Air conditioning in both the lounge room and bedroom where a welcome comfort. The furniture was modern and in good condition. Our ground floor apartment was 1 minute away from the pool.... fantastic. Grounds were maintained well and the three pools were fantastic

We stayed for 3 nights (single room) earlier in November using a groupon deal. Good value and the rooms are quite nice - clean and reasonably spacious. Lovely pool and not too busy.
