South Stradbroke Island, QLD

The natural reserve that is South Stradbroke Island is located just a 40-minute ferry ride from the Gold Coast. The calm inner waterways on one side, virtually untouched native bushland in the centre and 22 kilometres of surf beach on the other side are a make it a unique place with huge potential for a variety of activities. The surf beach offers views of the Gold Coast, and often sneaky glimpses of the shy and majestic humpback whales migrating north to breed during whale watching season, which starts in June and runs through to late October.
