The Hotel: Fairways Resort

With 39 rooms, two 18-hole golf courses and three lawn bowling greens, Fairways Resort is ideal for a comfortable and quiet stay. The hotel is located on Rosebud Country Club where the travelling golfer is less than 100 metres to the first tee and just a short drive from other courses on the Mornington Peninsula.

While the hotel is owned and run by golfers, it is not exclusive to those who like to wield a club. Advanced golfers and novices alike can take lessons, gain local knowledge of the courses, work out the best days to play, and determine the difficulty of each course. Those looking for a light lunch or casual dining can head to the View Restaurant after a round of golf for modern Australian meals and local and interstate wines.

Mornington Peninsula

A well-loved holiday spot amongst Victorians keen to escape the buzz of Melbourne for something simpler, Mornington Peninsula seamlessly fuses breezy, beachy towns with a stunning hinterland awash with lush national parkland. Galleries, markets, cafes and wineries bump sides in a dazzling feast of cultural and gourmet activities, while the numerous bays and inlets present not only a challenge to adventure seekers but also the perfect spot to relax with a great book.

A gorgeous stretch of windswept beaches, sheer bluffs and wild bushland, the Mornington Peninsula was the site of Victoria’s first European settlement. With these early relics plus fortifications dating back to both World Wars, the area is alive with history and a strong sense of the past. Meanwhile, contemporary art galleries and stylish bars add a chic, modern edge, and the Mediterranean landscape is enhanced by silvery olive groves, picturesque vineyards and an emphasis on fresh produce.

Oenophiles take a tour from one winery to the next, sampling unique local drops and even indulging in a spot of lunch at one of the cellar door restaurants. Cheese factories and olive groves are also choice places to pick up an artisan product, while a long list of markets present wares like fresh produce, crafts and knick-knacks for tourists. For a unique experience, visit the Peninsula Hot Springs to bathe in the mineral-enriched warm waters.
