The Hotel: The Waves
The Waves Apartments are located in Cowes, Phillip Island, only a few minutes’ walk to the main street with cafes, shops and restaurants. It is conveniently situated directly across the esplanade from the Cowes main beach, which is one of the few North-facing beaches in Victoria, as well as a large rotary playground on the foreshore.
The Waves Apartments offer a range of accommodation options including the Beachfront Suite, Panorama, Premium, Executive and Deluxe. Each room features a kitchenette, the luxury of a two-person spa in each unit and a private balcony - many with bay views. Each room also features the inclusion of split system heating/air conditioning, HD TV (and a separate TV for the kids) and a range of other guest amenities.
The Area: Phillip Island
Phillip Island is located about 140 km south-southeast of Melbourne, Victoria. It is named after Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales. The Island forms a natural breakwater for the shallow waters of Western Port and features unique north-facing beaches.
Phillip Island is perhaps most renowned for the world-famous Penguin Parade, which is one of the most popular attractions in Australia, with over 500,000 visitors per year watching the little penguins waddle up the beach every night. Other wildlife viewing attractions include the Koala Conservation Centre, the Maru Hoala and Animal park, the range of wildlife coast cruises and the Moonlit Sanctuary. Phillip Island and the mainland Bass Coast are also havens for bird watching. Other must-sees include the Phillip Island Chocolate factory, the Pelican Feeding, Nobbies Seal Centre, art and craft markets and the Vietnam Veteran’s Museum.
