The Hotel: Yallingup Forest Resort
Perched near the beautiful Western Australian coastline, the Yallingup Forest Resort is an eco-friendly retreat secluded within a serene forest of bountiful greenery. Groupies arrive to a colonial-style chalet and are greeted with a bottle of wine which can be enjoyed on the spacious wrap-around veranda. Ease in with a DVD from the hotel’s rental facility at reception, or head into the town of Dunsborough to stock up on goodies to cook up in the chalet’s fully-equipped kitchen or outdoor barbecue area. Guests can work up a sweat while having fun with a game of tennis, before cooling down in the swimming pool. Stroll down to Bush Shack Brewery and cheers the getaway over a Bush Shack ‘Picket’, a line-up of taster beers.
The Area: Yallingup, Western Australia
Journey to the heart of the Margaret River region, approximately 35-40 minutes from Yallingup, and experience one of Australia’s best wine and food regions. Take a dip or snorkel in Yallingup beach’s swimming lagoon, while the brave can head down to the surfing spots of Smiths, Three Bears, Super Tubes, Injidup and Rabbits to catch a wave. Stretch legs and admire the scenery on a lengthy walk at Canal Rocks, before savouring local drops at one of the local wineries, such as Cape Naturaliste Vineyard or Deep Woods Estate.
Travelers looking to get a taste of art, food and wildlife can do so all at once at the Goanna Gallery Café, breaking off a piece of homemade cake and appreciating the art while listening to the soothing sounds of cooing kookaburras and the rustles of goannas. Inside, visitors can purchase unique jewellery pieces, natural soap and body products, plus an array of stunning photos, paintings and pottery pieces.
