The Experience

On Day Three, travel to Siem Reap by air-conditioned bus, checking into the Prum Banyon Hotel on arrival. Day Four is spent exploring the legendary temple complexes surrounding the city, including Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, as featured in Tomb Raider. A highlight on Day Five is the Tonle Sap floating village boat tour, followed by visits to a silk farm, a local market, and a masseuse.

The Area: Cambodia

Cambodia’s past has been filled with upheaval, but with every passing year more and more travellers are discovering its natural beauty and cultural riches. A warm, wet tropical climate means the countryside is covered in lush green vegetation, and its jungles are home to a huge variety of wildlife including elephants, deer, bears, panthers and tigers. Ancient temples and palaces dot the length and breadth of Cambodia, some carefully preserved and others vine-wrapped and lost to history for centuries. The most famous of these is Angkor Wat, a vast and richly carved temple complex on the fringes of the small city of Siem Reap which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors per year.

Close to the river and attractions this Hotel in my mind is a hidden gem to say the least. The staff are outstanding the housekeeping is immaculate and the buffet breakfast is all you could ask for while you can enjoy it by the pool, this is truly a Boutique Hotel for Cambodia. The rooftop offers a plunge pool to cool off and grab a few rays of sunshine which also has a bar to order drinks from, and a great view of the city.
