The Area: Siem Reap and Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Cambodia’s Angkor Wat is one of the ancient wonders of the world, and a bucket list essential for every traveller. Magnificent stone spires rise eerily out of dense tropical jungle, which is particularly enchanting when seen in the filtered light of early morning or golden glow of sunset. Inside the temples, soaring trees take on an almost human quality as they slowly spread a tangle of roots around the stone, enveloping and swallowing the man-made marvels back into the jungle once more. Up close, every surface is carved and decorated with intricate depictions of ancient myths and stories.
Angkor Wat is a vast complex of temples which is best visited over a number of days. Groupies could cycle out along the flat 5.5km road from Siem Reap to Angkor in the cool early morning, marvelling at the mysterious temple Angkor Thom, which is slowly being swallowed by the jungle. Stop here to take photos under the ‘Lara Croft’ tree immortalised in the film, Tomb Raider. Continue onto spectacular Bayon temple, where huge, serene stone faces stare down at visitors from every spire. On another day, hire a tuk tuk driver to visit other temples, making sure to arrive early for sunrise over the imposing silhouette of Angkor Wat. Visitors with a bit of extra time should head to Banteay Srei, a small outlying temple with exquisitely detailed carvings and beautiful red-pink stone.
There are dozens of restaurants and bars to keep visitors to Siem Reap entertained at night, as well as inviting night markets where shoppers can bargain up a storm. Siem Reap is easy to get around, and any tuk tuk trip within the city should cost $1, regardless of the destination. When hiring a tuk tuk driver for a day or longer to explore the temples, be sure to agree on destinations and price before climbing aboard.

A really charming hotel. Large and decked out in dark timber. Rooms were really nice and clean...Staff were friendly and it was easy to book day tours with them. Hotel has a lovely and refreshing pool. As well as a gym, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi...I would definitely recommend this hotel whilst staying in Siem Reap.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and the pool grateful after a very hot day. Great to have a gym also. Nicely located near shopping. Just grab a tuk tuk shopping or restaurants (cheap) The entertainment in the evening was lovely to listen to and requested songs were well received. Thank You for our visit Prince D'Angkor
