As many as 10 million animals suffer and die as a result of cosmetic testing every year. The most recent figures for Australian states showed that:

• 4,977,239 animals were tested in New South Wales
• 1,080,136 animals were experimented on in Victoria
• 1,202,343 animals suffered from testing in Queensland
• 933,242 animals were used in Western Australia

22,689 creatures were entered into experiments where the end goal involved death, while 115,663 creatures were used in experiments which involved a major physiological challenge.
