About Sovereign Hill
Located just off road C294, Sovereign Hill is an outdoor museum focused on presenting Australia's goldrush history. Attracting more than 450,000 visitors each year, the centre was opened in November 1970 and is widely known for putting strong emphasis on working machinery and exhibits, costumed interpreters and visitor participation. The compound occupies 25 hectares of land, divided between the museum and a field for the outdoor sound and light show, Blood on the Southern Cross.
